Bringing a Mini Australian Shepherd into your life is more than just choosing a cute face—it's about understanding the journey they’ve taken before ever reaching your arms. At Mini Aussie Collective, we believe informed owners make the best companions, which is why we’re proud to share how we raise each pup to be confident, social, and ready for real life.
Week 1–2: The Warmth of the Whelping Box
During these first days, puppies are completely dependent on mom. Their eyes and ears are still closed, and their world revolves around warmth, touch, and nursing. We focus on making mama comfortable and ensuring each puppy is gaining weight and thriving.
Week 3–4: Eyes Open, World Expands
This is when the magic begins. Eyes open, ears perk up, and puppies begin to wobble around the whelping box. They start to interact with littermates and respond to gentle human touch. Around this time, we introduce gruel (a soft puppy mash) and water to support weaning.
Week 5–6: Social Butterflies in Training
This is a critical social window. Puppies begin learning boundaries from their mom and siblings—how hard to bite, when to play, and when to settle. We expose them to different sounds, textures, people, and environments to build confidence. Early crate exposure, supervised outdoor time, and basic handling start here.
Week 7–8: Ready for Real Life
Now nearly weaned and full of personality, our Mini Aussies are learning fast. Crate training, potty habits, leash introductions, and play sessions are all part of the daily routine. Each pup gets one-on-one time to help them transition smoothly into their future home.
By the time they’re ready to go home at 8 weeks, our puppies have been given the tools to succeed—and the love to trust humans.
We don’t just raise puppies. We build future companions.
